How To Make Your Blog DoFollowHere are the steps you need to take if you want to remove the NoFollow attribute on your Blogger blog. Step by Step Instructions: Note: If you have a WordPress business blog you can install the NoFollow plugin design at www.michelem.org/wordpress-plugin-nofollow-free As always, when making changes to your template and the HTML code you will want to backup your template. If you don't know how to back it up you can read my post entitled, How to Backup your Blogger Template. If you ever want to make your blog NoFollow again you will want to remember which tags require the rel='nofollow' attribute so you should write them down before you remove the attribute. 1. Log into your Blogger account. 2. Click on the Layout tab from the Blogger.com Dashboard. 3. Click the Edit HTML link. 4. Check Expand Widget Templates. The nofollow attributes are inside of the widgets/gadgets so you will not find them if you do not expand the widgets. 5. Search for nofollow. To search you can press CTRL + F on your keyboard at the same time and the Search box will appear or click on the Edit menu and then click Find. You will find at least 2 instances of the NoFollow in the code. Click on the picture below to make it larger so you can see what the nofollow attribute looks like in the HTML code. 6. Once you find the first instance of nofollow remove rel='nofollow' from the tag that starts with " 7. Click the Save Template button at the bottom right. Remove the Second NoFollow attribute (Optional): By doing another search for nofollow you will find another instance of it. Just remove rel='nofollow' like you did above and click Save Template. This is for backlinks. You can choose to delete the nofollow attribute or leave it. If you delete this nofollow attribute you do it at your own risk. Backlinks are outside of your control and cannot be moderated because they come from other blogs. If someone links to a post of yours through a backlink, that backlink is on their blog and no yours. You do not have control over what they are writing and the backlink could come from a spammer's site. Advertise your business blog as DoFollow with a Badge Once your business blog is setup for DoFollow you may want to advertise it to attract backlinks and more commenting. Allowing links out from your blog will make your blog more valuable as well. Here is a free graphic (badge) you can add to your blog that advertises that you are DoFollow. Right-click on it and then Save it to your computer. Then upload it in your blog as a picture. There is no need to create a link for it.
These variety of colored badges were created by Randy Clay. To get involved with DoFollow communities and find DoFollow websites and blog check out my post entitled, 5 DoFollow Communities to Get Link Love
