The Computer Lady: 1996 - present [Self Employed]

Use my knowledge of computers to troubleshoot and instruct clients on computers at their home or place of business. Here is a small list of websites I have designed or redesigned. Visit my portfolio page for a full list of websites.
Computer Technician:  1999 - 2004

New London Public Schools - assigned to Bennie Dover Jackson Middle School.  Maintained, repaired, and serviced between 150 and 200 computers; trained staff during Staff Development held twice a year; worked on a one-to-one basis with staff members as needed; did training for Cisco phones; maintained detailed inventory of all computers in the building; kept file system of repair tickets.

Computer Software Instructor:  Sept. 2000 - 2002

Stonington Adult Education, Stonington, Conn. Taught classes in Web Design and HTML.  Developed curriculum for all courses.

Computer Instructor:  Sept. 1997 – 2000

New London Adult Education
Instruct classes in Word 97 Level 1 and 2, Introduction to Computers, Introduction to Windows 95/98, and Internet Basics, Intermediate Internet, and Intro to AOL 5.0. Instructor-lead classes. Develop curriculum for each course.

Groton Public Schools
Supervision of a 26 Pentium-based computer lab at Fitch High School in Groton, CT. Instructor for teachers within the Groton School District focusing on Microsoft Office 97 applications. Setup up computers, servers, and software for elementary school classrooms.

Worked with a small computer business, Pinnacle Computers, located in Groton, CT, to teach Windows 3.1, Windows 95, and Internet classes.

Artist Liaison Coordinator

March-July, 2000: Worked on the volunteer database (Access 97), worked with the volunteer coordinator, Ron Loomis, to schedule over 3,500 volunteers for the 4-day event. Created a check-in system, made signs, forms, and answered over 300 email messages.

10th Annual Exploring New Horizons Conference
March 16, 1999 Three Rivers College, Thames Valley Campus, Norwich, CT. This conference hosted over 600 high school girls. As the technology specialist spoke on what it takes to be involved in technology careers. Second year as guest speaker.

March 30-31, 1998 Stockbridge, Massachusetts
As a guest speaker demonstrated the use of technology to the Bed and Breakfast owner. PowerPoint, a laptop and a LCD panel were used for the presentation.

Norwich/New London Home-based Business Group - Member May 1997 - May 1998. Volunteered with this non-profit association to present a Home-based Business. As a part of this group, participated in a panel discussion on the local television program, Business Beat Live. Was the Business Person of the Month for the month of November, 1997.

Norwich Navigator Booster Club – as the Newsletter Coordinator, designed and developed the monthly newsletter using Microsoft Publisher, 1994-1996.

April 18, 1999: Certificate of Appreciation in recognition of the kind and generous donation of time, talent, and energy to the Ledyard Public Libraries.

April 1, 1997: The Residentarticle in the March 19 – issue entitled, "Quilters on the Web." This article pertained to the "Internet Quilt" project.

January 15, 1997: The Dayarticle in the Region Section. This article entitled, "Tradition meets modern technology as Groton seniors quilt over the web," pertained to the "Internet Quilt" project created while working at the Groton Senior Center. This project started in 1995 and concluded in January 1997. Quilt blocks were swapped with fellow quilters from around the world.

May 28, 1996: Recipient of the "Groton Friend of Education Award," for service to the Groton Public Schools through the Intergenerational Pen Pal Program.

April 21, 1996: Certificate of Appreciation in recognition of the kind and generous donation of time, talent, and energy to the Ledyard Public Libraries.
