How to Turn Off the Google Search Query Suggestions Feature

Google has added a new feature called "query suggestions" to help you when you are searching. As you are typing Google will add words to give you ideas for searches you might want to use. It looks like this.

If you don't like this feature you can disable it by following these steps.

1. Go to www.google.com

2. Click the small word to the right of the search box that reads, Preferences.

3. Click next to Do not provide query suggestions in the search box.

4. Click Save Preferences button at the bottom of the page.

Update: I found out from a reader who said that the Google Query suggestion feature resets and turns itself back on every 24 hours. I have not been able to confirm this but I thought I would pass it along.
